I've gotten three requests now for a picture of how "popped out" I am. Here you go ladies:

One more month
It doesn't seem like it's been 31 weeks since we found out we were pregnant but here we are. I apologize for not having updated the blog in so long - we've been busy!
Martin Luther King weekend we (the baby and I) drove down to Stoughton for our last visit before she's seeing Stoughton through her own eyes. We had two lovely baby showers with our families and it was so nice to see everyone!
The Girl Cousins on the Bronte Side
The diaper cake that Becky, Margit, Audrey, and Danielle made. Brian actually thought taking it apart was fun even though he smelled like a (clean) diaper for the rest of the day.
Two weeks ago, Bump (as Paul likes to call her) was a quasi-bridesmaid in Danielle and Paul's wedding. She made getting my dress fitted interesting but she was there. One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to float around in the lazy river at the waterpark in the hotel. It was so relaxing.
Me, Brian and Bump in our wedding attire
The house has been a flurry of baby preparations. We just finished with our birthing classes last night - every Tuesday for the last 6 weeks. I'm glad we did them and it was sweet watching Brian learn how to swaddle. Brought a tear to my eye but then again just about everything does nowadays. He's going to be a great daddy.
Brian put together the baby swing on Monday. Those of you who have seen my husband's handy skills know that he's not always so handy but he did an excellent job. All baby stations - crib, swing and pack n' play - are in their "baby ready" positions. I wanted the cats to get used to having them around so it's not such a huge change when the little one arrives.
As for the bambino herself, she is right on target for length and has a very loud heartbeat. She likes hiding behind my belly button for heartbeat checks. One day she even played with my belly button for an hour or so. She has random bouts of being very active in a steady and rhythmic pattern and then settles down for good long naps. She's now the size of a honeydew melon and graduates next week to a watermelon (I think the fruit comparisons are funny). Even more exciting news is that as of next Tuesday, she is considered full term!
As for me, I'm doing well. Not sleeping so well some nights even though my saintly husband has relegated himself to the couch so that I can turn whichever way I need to and use all of the pillows. My ankles and hands are huge, leading to the saddest change - I can't wear my wedding ring anymore. My ring and sleeping on my stomach again are two of the things I'm most looking forward to getting back after the baby. Sleep won't be much I'm sure but at least I'll have the baby to look at. I'm so excited to see her finally.
And inevitably, there is the question of names. We have a final list of four possibilities that we are taking to the hospital. We are trusting that once we see her and follow our very-tired-by-then guts, the winner will reveal itself.
